Breaking into Modelling : What Every New Face Should Know!

Are you a new or an aspiring model? We are here to help and guide you with this exciting new career chapter and offer some simple, yet important pointers for you to understand how to enter the modelling world. Although seemingly intimidating, starting modelling doesn't need to be as nerve-racking as one might think - the model world is open, friendly & challenging but so rewarding and we're here to support you every step of the way!
Keep reading for some advice & reassurance to help you settle into your modelling career whilst being authentic, true to yourself and embracing growth in confidence, self-love and the fashion community.

1. Personality
Looking Great Helps - But Personality Stands Out.
Be Friendly, Open, and Unapologetically yourself.
Confidence grows with experience, so don't be afraid to speak up and connect with the team.

What truly stands out in the modelling world is your authentic self. Whether it’s how you carry yourself within your agency, the energy you bring to set, or the way your personality shines through in images - it's your individuality that tells the story.

Your quirks, your charm, and those little details that make you you are what create genuine connections and memorable moments. In an industry driven by expression, it's authenticity that leaves a lasting impression.

2. Presentation
Every Casting is an Opportunity.
Embrace your personal style, but keep it simple and clean.
Stay fresh, polished and true to you.

Tied closely to personality is presentation - how you show up tells us a lot about who you are. But don’t overthink it. The key is to wear something that feels comfortable, yet still aligns with the role you're stepping into.

Stick to your personal style, but keep it clean, simple, and fresh. You want casting directors to easily envision your look on runways, in campaigns, and within striking, creative imagery.

When in doubt? You can’t go wrong with a well-fitting black tee paired with tailored trousers or classic jeans. Effortless, timeless, and always model-ready.

3. Beauty
We Celebrate Real Beauty - in all its forms.
Natural skin, textured hair, curls, coils, braids, - we love to see it all.
Flare-ups and imperfections are normal.
Less is more with makeup - we want to see the real you.

We love you for you! If you can't tell already, this journey is all about who you are! Especially during teenage years, and the early stages of a modelling career, it's normal to see break outs and skin imperfections. And the last thing we want you to do is cover it up!

At Premier, we opt for a more natural, organic look - we love natural skin & little to no make up - as long as you're looking after your skin to the best of your ability, we're happy!

The same goes for your hair—we’re open to and excited by all hair types and textures. Whether it’s curly, coily, straight, wavy, or somewhere in between, we want to see your natural beauty shine through.

And if you ever need help or guidance on your skincare or haircare journey, our agents are always here to help!

4. Mental Health & Wellness
How you feel Inside, shows on the Outside
Eat well, stay hydrated, and find joy in hobbies you love.
If you're ever struggling, talk to your agent - we're here to support you.

Health is Wealth - as they say! It ain't no secret that how you treat your body and mind reflects how you feel, how you move through the world, and how you connect with others.

That said, you don't have to obsess with elaborate gym routines or strict regimens. What matters most is finding movement you genuinely enjoy. If you’re still figuring that out, think back to what lit you up as a child, or something you've always wanted to try. Whether it's dancing, skating, swimming, horse riding - or even long walks with a good playlist - staying active should feel fun, not forced.

What you eat plays a major role in how you feel and how you show up for yourself. Choose foods that you naturally love, experiment with new recipes, try that café you’ve been eyeing - see nourishment as a journey, not a rulebook. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to diet; it’s personal, evolving, and meant to be enjoyable.

And above all else: your mental health is a priority. In this industry, and in life, knowing yourself - your insecurities, your emotions, your strengths, and your boundaries - is powerful. Taking time to check in with yourself, reflect, and grow is a vital part of becoming not just a great model, but a grounded and confident person.

You’re not expected to be perfect - you’re encouraged to be real.

Here are some important organisations you can use if you're struggling or simply want to find out more :
