Known for her work as an actress in critically acclaimed films, Saffron Burrows continues to diversify her resume with the launch of three new films in 2012; Bill Guttentag’s “Knife Fight”, Jonas Akerlund’s “Small Appartments” and “Crossmaglen” in which she plays opposite Ben Kingsley and Michael Gambon.
On the big screen, Burrows has appeared in Jonas Pate's "Shrink" with Kevin Spacey and in the heist film "The Bank Job", directed by Roger Donaldson, where she starred opposite Jason Statham.. She also starred in Amy Redford's powerful directorial debut "The Guitar".. The film made its debut at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and garnered Burrows much critical praise. Additional credits include "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" opposite Jeff Goldblum , Peter Howitt's "Dangerous Parking"; Hal Hartley's "Fay Grim"; Mike Binder's "Reign Over Me; Wolfgang Peterson's "Troy"; Raoul Ruiz’s "Klimt'; Gerardo Herero's "El Misterio Galindez",; Paul McGuigan's "Gangster No. 1"; Michael Apted’s "Enigma" ; Mike Figgis' "Timecode", and his film adaptation of the classic play, "Miss Julie"; Pat O'Connor's "Circle of Friends"; and Jim Sheridan's "In the Name of the Father".
On the small screen, Burrows starred in the NBC drama series "My Own Worst Enemy" opposite Christian Slater, as well as the award-winning series "Boston Legal" with James Spader, earning her 2 cast SAG nominations in 2008 and 2009. For the BBC, she starred opposite Albert Finney and Julie Christie in the acclaimed production of Dennis Potter's "Karaoke".
Burrows' Theatre work includes Jeannette Winterson's “The Powerbook” for the Royal National Theatre, London, directed by Deborah Warner, in which she starred opposite Fiona Shaw. The play toured the Theatre National De Chaillot, Paris, and Teatro Argentina, Rome. She also played Janey Morris in “The Earthly Paradise”, for the Almeida Theatre, London; and in Neil LaBute's “Some Girl(s)”, on the West End stage opposite David Schwimmer.
Having initially started her career as a high fashion model modelling for the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Yves Saint Laurent, Saffron continues to model for clients including M&S Autograph. |
