With a rapidly blossoming career, Hunter Schafer is quickly becoming one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood today. She makes her acting debut this summer in HBO’s much-anticipated gritty high school drama “Euphoria,” from creator Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation). She stars opposite Zendaya as “Jules,” a new-to-town teenager navigating the trials and triumphs of coming of age. Early screenings of the pilot landed Hunter on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of 7 Rising Stars poised for a breakout in 2019.
At 15, Hunter’s art took the form of watercolor paintings, collages, sketches, comics, photos and essays, all of which led her to a contributing artist job for Tavi Gevinson’s Rookie Magazine. In 2017, while attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, she was named a finalists for The National YoungArts Foundations’ competition – the organization’s highest honor. The National YoungArts Foundation was established in 1981 to identify and support the next generation of artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts. In December that year, Teen Vogue named her one of the world’s 21 Most Influential People Under 21, featuring her as one of their three covers stars for the issue.
After graduating from high school, Hunter moved to New York City and signed with Elite Model Management. As a runway model she has walked for designers like Dior, Rick Owens, Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs. Along with coveting blue chip campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang and Versus (Versace’s diffusion line), Hunter has also landed covers and editorial spreads in Dazed, W Magazine and International editions of Vogue amongst others.
