USING SOCIAL MEDIA WITH INTENTION
Social media is one of the most valuable tools you have as a model.
It allows you to showcase your work, express your personality, and build connections within the industry. Over time, it becomes a reflection of your journey — both creatively and professionally. As you grow, your voice, style, and perspective will naturally evolve — and that’s a good thing. Social media becomes a visual diary of that journey. At the same time, it’s helpful to be aware that what you share contributes to your overall image. Your posts, captions, and interactions all play a role in how you are perceived — by agencies, brands, photographers, and your audience.
One important thing to keep in mind is that social media is lasting. What you share online becomes part of your digital footprint — a record of your thoughts, work, and presence over time. Content can be saved, reshared, or revisited later, sometimes in ways you didn’t originally expect. This isn’t something to worry about, but rather something to be aware of. It simply means approaching social media with a sense of intention and understanding that it reflects your growth over time. This isn’t about being perfect or limiting yourself. It’s about being thoughtful in how you present yourself, while still allowing space to evolve.
When used with awareness, social media can strengthen your reputation, build trust, and open doors to meaningful opportunities. Think of it as your space — one that reflects not just how you look, but who you are becoming.

1. Be Professional, Even When Casual
Avoid posting content that could appear offensive, immature, or overly
controversial. Think before posting - if you wouldn’t say it in front of a
client or casting director, don’t post it. Be mindful of your tone in
comments and captions.
2. Maintain Brand Alignment
Know your personal brand:
Are you edgy? elegant? commercial?
Post content that aligns with how you
want to be perceived in the industry.
Avoid promoting content that contradicts
the image you or your agency want to project.
3. Give Credit Where It’s Due
Modeling is collaborative. Every shoot involves a group of creatives -
photographers, stylists, makeup artists, hair teams, assistants, and more.
Always tag and credit the people involved. It shows respect, builds relationships, and highlights your professionalism. When you support your collaborators, you become someone people want to work with again - and that matters.
4. Respect Contracts and Exclusivity
You’re part of a larger project with legal and creative limits. Always check with your agent before posting job-related content. Don’t share behind-the-scenes or unreleased images, videos, or looks—this can break NDAs, contracts, and cost you work. Some jobs include exclusivity, so avoid posting about competing brands without approval. Only tag brands or teams once content is officially live and permitted.
Being careful protects trust as well as your career.

5. Quality Over Quantity
Share polished, high-quality images that showcase your best self. Avoid flooding your feed with repetitive selfies or poor-quality content. Treat your Instagram grid like a curated portfolio.
6. Be Thoughtful with Opinions
It’s okay to have beliefs - but publicly taking strong stances on polarising issues can affect bookings. Consider separating personal opinions from your professional platform if needed.
7. Be Mindful of Shared Content
Reposting memes or trends? Ensure they are respectful and inclusive humor can easily be misinterpreted — especially across cultures.
8. Engage with Professionalism
Be respectful in comments and direct messages. Avoid public conflict, arguments, or online drama. Acknowledge support, collaborations, and opportunities.
9. Separate Personal & Professional When Needed
Consider having a private account for close friends.
Keep your main account aligned with your career goals.
10. Be Authentic, But Mindful
Authenticity builds trust and a loyal following, but oversharing personal struggles or private drama can backfire. Keep your private life protected when needed - not everything has to go online.
11.Stay Safe Online
Don’t reveal your location in real-time or share personal contact details publicly. Be wary of fake castings or DMs from unverified sources.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: YOUR INFLUENCE

* Social media is not just about followers; it’s about value, vision, and voice.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Social media is both a creative space and a professional tool.It gives you the opportunity to shape your own narrative, showcase your work, and build meaningful connections. There is no single “right” way to use it - what matters is that it reflects you, while supporting where you want to go. When in doubt, take a moment, reflect, and post with intention. Over time, those small decisions help build something strong, consistent, and entirely your own. You’re not just posting - you’re telling a story.
