Inside Premier Models Development Day: Guiding the Next Generation of Talent
At Premier Models, we believe modelling is as much about growth and self-understanding as it is about creativity and image. Our Development Day brings together our young, newly scouted models for a day of learning, guidance, and empowerment — helping them take the next steps with confidence and clarity.
The day is always led by our dedicated New Face team, who help get you started and are there every step of the way to support, guide, nurture, and shape your next steps in the modelling industry. The development journey is an integral part of every new face’s career trajectory, providing a strong foundation for both personal and professional growth.
From walking and posing to professionalism and self-care, the day is designed to nurture every aspect of a model’s development. It’s about building confidence, understanding the industry, and setting each model up for a sustainable, healthy, and exciting career.
Social Media Etiquette
Social media has become one of the most powerful tools in a model’s career. It’s your online portfolio — a place where you can express creativity, share your journey, and connect with the wider fashion community. But it’s also a professional space where your digital choices can influence future opportunities.
During Development Day, we help models understand how to use social media intentionally and safely.
That means:
- Keeping posts professional yet authentic — showing personality without compromising professionalism.
- Avoiding sharing unreleased or confidential work (NDAs, campaigns, fittings, or test shoots).
- Maintaining a positive tone in comments and interactions, and crediting creatives appropriately.
- Protecting privacy — no real-time location tagging or meeting unknown contacts without agent approval.
- Using your platforms to uplift, inspire, and communicate your individuality in a healthy, confident way.
We remind every model: your social media should work for you, not against you. It’s about balance — being real, creative, and safe, while remembering that your digital presence is part of your professional identity.

Skin Care and Natural Presentation
At Premier, one of the first lessons we share with new models is that less is more. Your natural beauty is what makes you unique, and clients want to see you — your real skin, features, and presence — not layers of makeup or heavy styling.
When attending castings, taking digitals, or shooting Polaroids, we always recommend keeping things as natural as possible. Minimal makeup (or none at all) allows bookers, clients, and photographers to see your true potential. It’s not about perfection — it’s about authenticity. Fresh skin, natural texture, and understated confidence are what stand out most.
We remind our models that taking care of your skin starts with consistency, not complexity. You don’t need a dozen products or an elaborate routine — often, gentle cleansing, good hydration, and enough rest are the most powerful tools. Over-treating can do more harm than good.
The same philosophy applies to hair. Keeping it clean, natural, and in good condition helps clients and photographers envision your versatility. You don’t need to arrive with a styled blow-dry — they want to see movement, texture, and how your hair naturally frames your face.
Ultimately, good skin and hair care isn’t about covering up — it’s about revealing. The goal is to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin, knowing that your individuality is exactly what makes you special.

Health, Fitness and Feeling Your Best
In an industry built on imagery, it’s understandable that models often feel pressure around their appearance. At Premier, we believe that looking good starts with feeling good — and that’s only possible through a balanced, healthy lifestyle that supports both your physical and mental wellbeing.
We talk honestly about how the job can be physically demanding — long days, travel, changing time zones — and that maintaining energy, posture, and stamina are key parts of being a professional model. But this isn’t about extremes. It’s about looking after yourself in a way that’s sustainable and positive.
We encourage models to find forms of movement they genuinely enjoy — whether that’s pilates, running, dance, yoga, or just regular walks. Exercise should feel empowering, not punishing. A model who moves confidently, stands tall, and has natural energy will always photograph beautifully.
Nutrition plays a role too. Eating well isn’t about restriction; it’s about nourishment. Balanced meals, staying hydrated, and maintaining a regular eating pattern all help your body perform at its best. We also remind models that sleep and rest are essential — recovery is as important as activity.
Looking good for the job comes from taking care of yourself, not changing yourself. Healthy skin, posture, and confidence all reflect what’s happening on the inside.
Our goal at Premier is to help each model build habits that make them feel strong, balanced, and genuinely happy in their body — because confidence is always the most beautiful thing you can wear.

Mental Health and Wellbeing
Behind every beautiful image is a person — and that person’s wellbeing matters. At Premier, we know that modelling can be incredibly rewarding, but also emotionally demanding. Travel, constant change, comparison, and rejection are part of the job, and learning to manage those pressures is key to building a long, successful career.
First and foremost, remember that you are more than your measurements, your bookings, or your social media following. Your value doesn’t depend on external validation — it’s defined by your character, professionalism, and the way you carry yourself.
We encourage models to create space for balance. On days off, disconnect from industry noise: spend time with friends and family, nurture hobbies, rest, and recharge. Mindfulness, journaling, and even a simple daily walk can help keep your perspective grounded.
It’s also vital to speak up. If you’re feeling low, anxious, or overwhelmed, tell your booker. At Premier, communication is part of our care — we’d always rather know how you’re feeling so we can support you properly. There’s no weakness in asking for help; in fact, it shows strength and self-awareness.
The most successful models are those who understand that looking after their mind is just as important as looking after their body. A clear head, a positive mindset, and self-belief will carry you further than any makeup or lighting ever could.
Casting Preparation: Making Your First Impression Count
Castings are your chance to make a memorable impression — and preparation is everything.
Before you arrive, take time to research the brand or client. Understanding their aesthetic and audience helps you present yourself appropriately — it shows professionalism and awareness. Bring your model bag essentials: heels (for women), clean shoes, simple clothing that flatters your shape, your portfolio and model cards if required.
When it comes to your appearance, remember the rule of simplicity: fresh skin, natural hair, clean nails, and confidence. Overstyling can distract from your features. The goal is to let clients see how adaptable you are — that you could fit seamlessly into their vision.
Body language plays a huge role. Stand tall, make eye contact, smile, and listen carefully to instructions. Greet everyone respectfully — from the receptionist to the casting director. Politeness and presence go a long way.
Most importantly, don’t take rejection personally. Casting decisions are often based on creative direction, timing, or something entirely outside your control. Every casting is still a chance to practice, learn, and be seen. Professionalism and consistency always leave a lasting impression — even if you don’t book the job that day.
On-Set Professionalism: Building Your Reputation
Once you’re booked, how you conduct yourself on set can define your career.
Punctuality, preparation, and a positive attitude are the foundations of professionalism. Arrive early, well-rested, and ready to work. Be respectful to everyone — from photographers to assistants to catering staff. The way you treat others is remembered just as much as your performance.
Be engaged. Listen to direction, but don’t be afraid to contribute creative energy when it feels right — modelling is collaboration. Stay patient if the day runs long or conditions aren’t ideal; flexibility is one of the qualities that makes a model truly great.
Bring your essentials: clean undergarments, simple wardrobe basics, skincare, and a few hair tools if needed. Stay off your phone unless on a break — full attention shows respect for the team and the work being created.
Confidentiality is also crucial. Never share behind-the-scenes content, looks, or campaign details until you have permission. Trust is the backbone of professionalism in this industry — and once you earn it, people want to work with you again.
Ultimately, professionalism isn’t just about what you do — it’s about how you make people feel. Be someone who lifts the room, works hard, and respects the process. Those are the models who have longevity.

Working with Your Agency
Your agency isn’t just there to find you jobs — it’s your professional partner. At Premier, we believe the best model–agent relationships are built on trust, honesty, and open communication.
Always keep your agent updated and discuss openly — whether it’s your availability, travel plans, new tattoos, hairstyle changes, or personal challenges that might affect work. The more transparent you are, the better we can support you and plan strategically for your career.
When opportunities arise, trust that every decision we make has your long-term growth in mind. Sometimes that means turning down jobs that don’t fit your direction, or holding off for something better aligned. The goal isn’t just to be busy — it’s to build a sustainable, respected career.
Never hesitate to ask questions. Whether you’re unsure about a contract, need advice on handling a situation, want feedback from a shoot, or need guidance on legal, financial, visa, or immigration matters, your agents are here to support you and provide protection.
At Premier, we see every model as an individual — not a number. Your career is a journey, and we’re here to help you navigate it with integrity, confidence, and care.
