Born in London to Spanish parents, Asier Newman began his acting career in his late teens with starring roles in numerous British TV series.
Asier hit the headlines stateside when he was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best Actor at the New York Film Festival for his lead role in the critically acclaimed independent feature film "SHEM". Asier is the youngest person ever to win this award and previous winners of the accolade are Guy Pearce and Oscar winner Rod Steiger (2002).
2007 saw Asier embarking on an international film career starring opposite Charlotte Rampling in Spanish Academy Award winning director Julio Medem’s forth coming epic, “CAOTICA ANA”.
2009 sees the release of prolific fashion photographer and Oscar Nominated director Sean Ellis’ horror thriller “THE BROKEN”, in which Asier stars opposite Lena Headey (The Brothers Grimm, 300), Melvil Poupaud (Le Temps Qui Reste, Broken English) and Michelle Duncan (Driving Lessons, Atonement).
2010 will see the cinematic release of two more movies for Asier. The first “GLORIOUS 39” from acclaimed director Stephen Poliakoff alongside Romola Garai, Maggie Smith and Bill Nighy. The second “RE UNITING THE RUBINS” a comedy starring Timothy Spall with Asier playing his son.
Asier is a keen sportsman having swum at county level and is also a qualified horse riding instructor, owning his own stud farm in Kent, England.
